About Piece 'a Cake

Colleen is a graduate of the highest honors from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. She has over 25 years' experience in the pastry industry. To enhance her pastry experience, she did her externship with the well-known Gail Watson Custom Cakes in Manhattan after which, she was awarded a scholarship thru Les Dames d'Escoffier (New York Chapter). This scholarship included a mentorship with Dame Sylvia Wienstock.

This superior training and work in the industry led her to open Piece 'a Cake bakery in June 2009, a quaint, little shop in downtown Macungie. We design sculpted, one-of-a-kind cakes to suit any occasion.

Diplomas/Certifications:
Colleen earned a Diploma in Pastry and Bakery Arts, as well as Career Culinary Management.

​

Terry handles tasks such as scheduling, purchasing, estimating and delivering. Together, the Lakys aim to exceed your expectations through unparalleled taste paired with cutting-edge design and detail.

Piece 'a Cake is Serv Safe Certified, a food safety and sanitation certificate.

"'We’re doing about 200 weddings a year and thought, 'What else can we throw into the mix?' Terry said. 'And then we came up with the idea of selling specialty cupcakes and coffee. Instead of spending a lot of money on an elaborate cake, customers can now grab some cupcakes to go.'"
